Web Browser by Google (Chrome)

Today Google announced Google Chrome, an open source web browser created by Google.

You can download Google Chrome here.

It looks nice so far, it is fast and hopefully it will get as popular and even more popular than Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer, these other two are currently the most common web browsers, Firefox being more secure and flexible and Internet explorer that is more … insecure and popular.

Netgear SPH200W Wi-Fi Skype Phone

sph200w netgear wi-fi skype phone I bought this phone at the beginning of April 2008. My intention was to use this phone solely for home use since I have broadband at home. So far I have been satisfied. But not totally! Here’s my review after using it for about three weeks.

I have connected to an unsecured, WEP, and WPA2-PSK access points.
Yes, it does take some time to connect from 5 - 20 mins. Frustrating at times. At home it takes about ten minutes. The best thing to do is fully charge the phone and then turn it on. I have a DLINK DIR-625 router and use WPA2-PSK encryption.

Belgian newspapers asks for $77.5 million from Google

A group of Belgian newspapers sued Google and are now asking for 49.2 million euros, around 77.5 million dollars.

Belgian newspapers claims that Google violated copyright laws by reading the publisher’s content and posting it in Google News, caching their content.

Google was sued in 2006 but now in 2008 they still didn’t get to a deal.

Google claims that content in Google News is legal and according to Margaret Boribon (secretary general at Copiepresse), Google failed to accept their claims.

Margaret Boribon said that Belgian publishers are still open to a settlement.

Nokia 6600 review

Nokia 6600I used this phone for many years, still works as new. Nokia 6600 is a very smart phone. I like that you can find many programs for it, including flash player, this allows you to run different kind of software.

A nice software that I seen was one that all owes to control computer’s winamp program, you can see playlist and controls on phone.

Other software allowed you to place the phone anywhere with bluetooth activated and it was sending images to computer acting as a wireless security camera.

It can be also used as modem to connect your computer to Internet.

It is very durable, for some reason I hit mine as hard as I could into the car’s windshield, the phone open into its pieces (back cap, battery, sim card, etc) but nothing is broken and it works perfect.

Its shape allows you to have a good grip on it when holding it in hand without talking. Only bad part is that it responds very slow to commands after you install many programs and fill its memory. I understand that this is a common issue with Symbian operating systems.

Some of the features are:

  • bluetooth connection
  • infrared connection
  • camera (photo and video recorder)
  • modem
  • java compatible
  • flash player compatible

It’s an online application that makes creating a team web site as easy as editing a document. You can quickly gather a variety of information in one place — including videos, calendars, presentations, attachments, and gadgets — and easily share it for viewing or editing with a small group, their entire organization, or the world.
* Anyone can do it — Building a site is as simple as editing a document, and you don’t need anyone’s help to get started.
* Share from one place — Create a single place to bring together all the information your team needs to share, including docs, videos, photos, calendars and attachments.
* Work together — Invite co-workers, classmates, or your entire organization to edit your site with you to keep it fresh and up-to-date. And let as many or few people view your site as you want.

Facebook user jailed 3 years for fake prince profile

26-year-old engineer has been sentenced to three years in prison for creating a fake profile of the younger brother of Moroccan King Mohammed VI on the popular Internet networking site Facebook.

A court in Casablanca on Friday convicted Fouad Mourtada of “usurping the identity of HRH Prince Moulay Rachid,” and faking computer documents, the official MAP news agency reported. He was also fined $1,300.

Mourtada’s lawyers said they would appeal, the report said. They had sought to have the case thrown out on the grounds that he had been held too long in provisional custody after his arrest on February 6. (more…)

Elmo did it again

ElmoThe popular toy Elmo did it again :)

Complaints ware received because Elmo is saying offending phrases again, a new version of the toy can connect to computer and learn phrases together with the kid’s name.

After a mother changed toy’s battery Elmo started to sing “Kill James” to his son James.

Back in 2006 the Elmo voice said to kids “wo wants to die” and it was supposed to say “who wants to try”. They say the error was because of some audio compression or some chip, however the toy clearly said “who wants to die” and this made some people say that it was something made on purpose by a person inside the company.
